Zambia U17 women’s team coach Carol Kanyemba says the six days of training ahead of their opening Group D match at the 2024 FIFA U17 women’s world cup is very adequate for them to acclimatise.

The U17 team arrived in the Dominican Republic last Friday and dived straight into training this weekend at the tournament the Caribbean nation is hosting from October 16 to November 3.

Kanyemba told FAZ Media in Santiago that her team was coming to grips with the humid conditions in Dominican Republic.

“The six days will really add value to our girls and help us get a better position on what to expect when the tournament starts, ” Kanyemba said.

“Our focus is not only to participate but also be able to compete and showcase our talent.

“We have told the girls to showcase their talent and show the world that they can compete as well.”

Zambia will face Brazil in their opening Group D match on Saturday morning at 01h00.

Poland including 2014 champions and two-time silver medalist Japan complete Group D.

Zambia will play Poland on October 20 and Brazil on October 23.

This is Zambia’s second outing at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup since 2014 when Barbra Banda and company made a group stage exit in Costa Rica.
