Opposition party Leadership Movement says the fight against corruption has not been successful under the the UPND

Party secretary general Jairos Ngoma said the UPND government had been in power for three years yet it had failed to secure any conviction for corruption cases.

“Go to Chimbokaila and Mukobeko Correctional Prison and see if you are going to find anyone convicted for corruption. We cannot continue to treat corruption like a massage parlour where you have turned it into catch and release and you think you can fool the Zambian people,” he said.

He said it was sad that the President had failed to fulfil the promise he made to the Zambian people of fighting corruption.

“President Hakainde Hichilema promised to fight corruption but look at him now. He has completely failed and if he meant well, by today, his fight against corruption was going to be justified,” he said.

Ngoma said the UPND was the most corrupt government the country had ever had.

“This  administration could be more corrupt than the past government. How do you transfer a minister who is at fault? How do you ask someone to resign instead of firing and investigating them,” he said.

Ngoma said the methodology in the fight against corruption the UPND had been talking about cannot be seen.

“We cannot be clapping for the new dawn that they are fighting corruption. If it was the leadership Movement, all these corrupt people were going to be fired and arrested in order to fetter would be offender’s,” said Ngoma.
