Socialist Party (SP) leader Fred M’membe says the United States and their western allies pressured some African leaders from attending the Russia-Africa Summit, and that they want puppet governments whom they sponsor thought all sorts of foundations and fronts.

Fred M’membe told international media network, RT in an exclusive interview that the US managed to dissuade some African leaders from attending the event, but Lusaka chose to send a delegation to prove that it makes its “own decisions.”

“Many people are being discouraged to come to Russia [by] those who want to dominate the world, those who think only their way is the way, the USA,” he stated.

Asked on the IMF deal Zambia signed and if the west was trying to spread control through the same, Dr M’membe said before signing that agreement, the Zambian government privately signed an agreement with the United States of America called AFRICOM, to set up an office in the country, and what the nation saw was the acceleration of the government turning much more pro-western than any government has ever been in history.

Asked by the RT reporter if this was the case of suitcase diplomacy which the USA and their friends in the west do to tilt governments, Dr M’membe said they want governments that are favourable to them.

“They want puppet governments in Africa. They are sponsoring them through all sorts of foundations, all sorts of fronts,” he said, saying that a puppet government cannot deliver meaningful economic development to its people and that what people need are sovereign governments that arise from the people, not fronts.

He decried the hate speech against Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian people in the western media.

He also said that the west is using stolen Russian money as the west has developed by theft and pillaging of other continents.

Dr M’membe said it was a side of the world that has developed through brutality, enslavement and through humiliation of other people, and that the moment they changed who they are they would be finished and therefore they will never change.

He said there were changes in the world taking place now as the globe cannot continue to be dominated by one country, one group of people and a group of nations, arguing that we all have the right to determine our own destinations.

“Africa’s security has been threatened by the US and the western countries for many years … Presidents in countries that tried to stump their own sovereignty, defended their independence have been toppled. They have been killed,” said Dr M’membe. “What we are seeing today is an enhancement of that with what we call hybrid wars. The Russian Federation understands much better because it’s an example of a hybrid war (with Ukraine).”

He said the whole world has seen these hybrid wars against Cuba, Zimbabwe, which usually start with sanctions and negative media publicity and psychological warfare to turn the populations against their own governments.
