WE ARE CLOSELY MONITORING PATRIOTISM OF OUR MPS TO PF, SAYS NAKACHINDA

By Isaac Zulu

Raphael Nakachinda has said that the Patriot Front leadership is closely monitoring the activities of its members of parliament and it will apply necessary mechanisms on those that have shifted their loyalty.

Commenting on assertions by PF Kantanshi member of parliament Anthony Mumba who is on record of having said that the Patriot Front will not bounce back to power in their current form, has praised the UPND government for increasing the Constituency Development Fund and that he can readily accept a ministerial position in the UPND administration, Nakachinda said that he has not had a personal engagement with the Kantanshi lawmaker but the party leadership will soon know the people that are committed to the political organisation as well as those that are treacherous.

“It’s difficult for me to comment on Honourable Anthony Mumba through the third party. The party (Patriot Front) is going through construction and very soon we will know those who are committed to the organisation, those that are treacherous and those that just want to survive. If there are those that have shifted their loyalty the party has mechanisms to deal with such situations,” said Nakachinda. “The party leadership is closely following the activities of PF members of parliament, those that went to Parliament on the PF ticket and their patriotism to the organisation. We will know if their patriotism is to their stomachs or pockets or, indeed, personal interests.”

He said it is primitive for people to think that they can only protest their business interests if they are align themselves to the ruling party.

“It is primitive for those in government to infringe on people’s businesses if they don’t belong to the ruling party. It is also primitive for people to think that they can only protest their business interests by patronising the ruling party,” said Nakachinda.

He pointed out that one does not need to be government for them to serve the country.

“Patriotism to the country does not mean that you have to be in government. You don’t have to be in government to serve the country. You can effectively provide checks and balances and contribute to the nation without being part of the ruling party,” said Nakachinda.
