Paramount chief of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province, Mpezeni says people in his area have not received fertilizer.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, the paramount chief said the people in the cooperatives have not received the fertilizer, with the only
mitigating factor being that it had not yet started raining in the area.
“Ulimi uli bwino tyala koma chabe kaili fertilizer tikalibe kulandila. Namanje kuno ikalibe kufika. I think muma cooperatives ndiye mwamene tikaliye kulandila. Ku boma kuno inafika kudala, koma kuma cooperatives ndiye akaliye uleta (Farming here is just fine but we have not yet received fertilizer. Up to now fertilizer has not reached us, in the cooperatives. At the boma it reached but it has not gotten to the cooperatives),” Mpezeni said.
But asked if that will not affect farming, especially that, that region was a major food producer in the country, Mpezeni said the mitigating factor was that it had not started raining yet, but insisted on the non-delivery of fertilizer, which in normal circumstances must have been delivered already by now.
“Pepani, pepani. Tikaliyo tenga (We have not gotten),” he said.
Asked on the ongoing debate for former president Edgar Lungu to repay all the money the state paid to him during the time he ‘retired from active politics’, the Mpezeni said he could not say anything on the matter.
“Si ndale zao? Si politics chabe iyo? Politics yaaa! Yamene iyi politics kuti nilobepo neo chingaoneke lini bwino (Is it not just their politics? This politics I wouldn’t want to get involved because it may not look nice),” said Mpezeni.
