We shall help you follow the “green” out of office, Central Province permanent secretary Milner Mwanakampwe has warned civil servants against sabotaging government efforts.
Addressing civil servants at Kapiri Mposhi’s John Paul Secondary School, Mwanakampwe said he was committed to escorting civil servant who may want to frustrate government works out of office.
“If we are government workers and we agree that what brings us here it’s because we are government workers. Let’s meet on this line; no green, no red. But the problem which is there is that those that were retributed while they were sending dossiers those that were retributing them are still saying ‘tucili tuleteka (We are still ruling). I will do one exercise with humility. If we have agreed to be civil servants, public service workers or government workers; let’s create friendship. We forgive and forget. We reconcile, we bring peace and we love one another,” Mwanakampwe said. “But if people want to continue sabotaging the works of government, we shall help them follow the green without fear or favour. We shall help them. On this one I commit myself… we shall help them. Whether we want to believe it or not, things have changed. There’s only one government. And that is the UPND. Akashimi kapela (End of story).”
Mwanakampwe said he was aware that there were people who went far beyond such that civil servants were even wearing political party regalia.
“In WhatsApp groups some of the civil servants have now gone to some levels of saying selacious words against His Excellency the President. And you call yourself a government worker,” said Mwanakampwe. “And if some of you want to continue going on public platforms declaring that I am UPND or ifwe nifwebo ba PF (We are PF members), we shall flush you out. We shall help you without fear or favour. So, I ask you again that we are government workers. Let there be love, let there be impartiality. Then we are going to move together as a united force. There’s more that unites us than that which divides us,” said Mwanakampwe.
The Central Province permanent secretary continued.
“Like Paul said ‘now that we are born again, there’s no more Jew and there’s no more Gentile.’ I know my message is not popular. But here is my message to all of us. I am saying this country was divided. If it was divided, it requires healing. If it requires healing, retribution is not the way to go,” said Mwanakampwe. “I ask you who were humiliated to find room in your hearts to forgive. I ask you who were humiliating others to find room in your hearts to repent…! I think this is a very serious message. As a number one servant in your Province; I believe that Lady Justice is blind. And if Lady Justice is blind, no one will be above the law and no one will be below the law.”
Mwanakampwe further charged charged that the debt swap was a PF ploy aimed at coercing civil servants to vote for them.
“The debt swap was a trap by the PF which was aimed at hoodwinking civil servants so that they can vote for the Patriot Front in the August general elections,” said Mwanakampwe, without elaborating further.
