Patson Daka says they are not going to Morocco to be tourists and give the Atlas Lions free cool three points on June 7 in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Zambia head to Morocco this morning ahead of Friday night’s 2026 Group E qualifier against the Atlas Lions, six months after the two sides met at the 2023 AFCON.
Daka said in an interview yesterday before departure for Morocco that he understands that people believe the odds are against them but they would hold their own in away Agadir.
“Morocco, to be honest, it’s every players dream to play against such teams. You always want to beat the best to be the best, so our target is to win,” Daka said .
“We know it’s not going to be an easy game. We know a lot have written us off and that Morocco will have a simple walk in the park.
“But we are going there to make sure that we give everything, get maximum points and not for the sake of just playing.
“We are a team, we are competing 11 against 11, anything is possible in football as long as we play together as team and stick to the coaches instructions. “
On January 24, Chipolopolo lost 1-0 to Morocco in their final Group F fixture at the 2023 AFCON where Zambia made a first round exit.
Chipolopolo now head to Agadir with two objectives.
The first one is obviously to reverse January’s defeat in San Pedro.
Chipolopolo’s second aim is to also not to leave Morocco twice with successive defeats after losing 2-1 there to Niger on match day two of their Group E qualifiers on November 21.
The lone goal for Zambia in that match was scored by Daka.
