WE WILL BE FORCED TO START THROWING ‘MUD’ AT LUNGU…if he does not retire from active politics, warns UPND’s Chilikwazi

Cabinet should stop paying Edgar Lungu salaries because the man is still engaging in active politics, says Costain Chilikwazi.

In a statement to Daily Revelation, Chilikwazi, who is UPND Lusaka district vice chairperson for mobilisation, charged that president Lungu is still engaging in active politics and has continued to appoint individuals to various positions in the Central Committee of the Patriot Front, adding that the former Head of State has to come out publicly and tell nation that he has retired from active politics.

Chilikwazi claimed that president Lungu is, in fact, still holding on to the position of party President in PF, and has continued funding the former ruling party’s political activities; including the just ended parliamentary and local government by-elections.

He stated that it is for this reason that Cabinet Office should find it prudent to stop paying the former head of state monthly salaries and other emoluments.

“While he is still serving as Patriot Front president, Mr Lungu is still drawing salaries and other allowances from government. The man is still on government pay roll. So I am challenging him… let him retire from active politics. Cabinet Office should stop paying Edgar Lungu the salaries he is currently getting from government because the man is still engaging in active politics,” Chilikwazi stated. “He is still on government pay roll. He is the one who is giving directives and instructions to senior PF members. Edgar Lungu is still making appointments of individuals to the Patriot Front Central Committee. He is the one behind the funding of Kaumbwe and Lusangazi by-elections; as well as other by-elections that were recently held across the country.”

Chilikwazi continued.

“If he does not retire from active politics, we will take him as a political opponent and we shall be left with no option, but to start throwing the mud at him. We will forget that he is the former Head of State. The moment he retires from active politics; we will be humbled,” added Chilikwazi.
