PF vice-president Given Lubinda has insisted that the party will use the justice system and any other means to protect the party from President Hakainde Hichilema’s tricks.
Addressing the media after High Court judge Vincent Siloka dismissed the application by nine presidential candidates challenging the election of Miles Sampa on a technicality, Lubinda said the narrative was becoming clear every day that the other camp was determined to drag the case to 2026.
He said the PF accepted the ruling with questions, further complaining of double standards that Sampa was being allowed to get away with all sorts of atrocities including contempt of court.
Lubinda charged that there was no doubt that President Hichilema was behind Sampa’s moves.
“You shall not use any means of mingalato (tricks) to wish the PF away,” he said, adding that he hoped the Constitutional will not use the same argument about duplicity of cases but hear out the case on its substance.
He said the constitution was very clear that cases must be adjudicated upon on their merits and not technicalities.
Chairperson for information and publicity Emmanuel Mwamba said there were two cases before the courts, one which involved the “purported” expulsion of nine members of parliament by Sampa and the other one which has been thrown out involving the presidential candidates.
He wondered how the judge could argue about multiplicity when the appellants in the two matters were not the same.
Acting secretary general Nixon Chilangwa said the next move was now to support the presidential candidates to appeal.
