Tech Trends Zambia chief executive officer Sandi  Chimpala says the country’s tech industry is poised for significant growth, driven by advancements in key sectors such as fintech, e-commerce, agritech, and healthtech.

In an interview with Daily Revelation yesterday, Chimpala noted that the rapid adoption of mobile technology, increasing availability of internet services, and growing entrepreneurial spirit among Zambians were driving forces that would propel the industry forward.

“We are likely to see significant advancements in key sectors, and achieving sustainable growth and digital prosperity requires a concerted effort from all stakeholders,” Chimpala said.

She drew attention to the need for greater investment in digital infrastructure, including broadband networks and data centers, to support the tech ecosystem.

She also stressed the importance of digital inclusion, saying efforts must be made to bridge the digital divide by expanding access to affordable internet services, promoting digital literacy programs, and developing solutions that cater to the needs of underserved communities.

“By working together, stakeholders can create an inclusive digital economy where everyone has the opportunity to participate and benefit,” Chimpala said.

She also highlighted the need for flexible regulatory frameworks that encouraged innovation and allowed new business models to flourish.

Chimpala expressed her commitment to playing a part in driving forward the digital transformation agenda through Tech Trends Zambia, by providing a platform for collaboration, promoting innovation, and fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors.

She said as  Zambia’s tech industry continued to grow, it was essential for stakeholders to prioritise digital skills training and education, saying this would ensure that the workforce was equipped to take advantage of new opportunities and drive innovation.

Chimpala noted that Tech Trends Zambia was  already working on initiatives to promote digital literacy and skills development, and encouraged other stakeholders to join in these efforts.

She said the growth of Zambia’s tech industry also presented opportunities for entrepreneurs and startups to develop innovative solutions to local challenges.

Chimpala encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to take advantage of resources such as incubators, accelerators and funding opportunities to turn their ideas into reality.

She said by supporting local innovation, Zambia could reduce its reliance on foreign solutions and create a more sustainable tech ecosystem.

Chimpala also said the tech industry must stay informed and engaged to unlock Zambia’s full potential and become a leader in Africa’s tech landscape.
