The boy at ACC thinks he can’t account to Zambians – Kabimba

The boy at ACC thinks he can’t account to Zambians because of his closeness to Hakainde Hichilema, we are not asking for his wife’ name but whether the commission is investigating Marsh Muchende, says Economic Front (EF) leader Wynter Kabimba.

And Kabimba said ACC is afraid to say they are investigating Solicitor General Marshal Muchende as they are ashamed to create a narrative that there is corruption in the UPND administration.

Kabimba wrote the Anti-Corruption Commission director general Tom Shamakamba recently giving his 7-days to disclose the nature of the investigations against Solicitor General Muchende, but Shamakamba told Daily Revelation media that no one could compel him to disclose who he was investigating.

But Kabimba said he appalled at the arrogance exhibited by Shamakamba, and vowed to proceed in taking the matter to court.

He said the arrogance reminded him of how some officials in the PF government that served under Edgar Lungu responded when queried over wrongdoing, saying because they thought they were very close to Lungu they could afford to be disrespectful of other citizens.

“This boy thinks he’s very close to HH, and he doesn’t realise that he is in a public office, at least from that response. And he thinks that all he should worry about is his standing with HH,” Kabimba said, warning that Shamakamba did not realise that it was people like him that would bring the President down.

He said it was this kind of arrogance which annoys citizens and alienates them from political parties and arrive at conclusions that there were wrong people in public office.

Kabimba argued that the people that are debating the issue of Muchende are asking a simple question, “is ACC investigating this man or not? You can’t refer to that as a noise.”

“The other thing is that he says that nobody shall compel him to disclose the reasons. Because as far as he’s concerned only HH can do so and nobody else,” Kabimba said. “What he forgets is that he’s accountable, he’s holding that office not for HH but for the Zambian people and he’s therefore accountable to the Zambian people. We are not asking for the name of his wife, nobody is asking him how many children he has because those are private affairs for him. But citizens have every right to ask him whether or not there is an investigation against the Solicitor General. And I don’t know what he finds difficult in saying yes or no.”

Kabimba vowed to have the law tested in the courts of law in view of Shamakamba’s response that he could not be compelled to disclose who he is investigating.

“Because if you look at the constitution it provides for national values and principles. And in those national values and principles it’s talking about good governance, transparency, democracy etcetera etcetera and we expect the Anti-Corruption Commission to work in a transparent manner,” Kabimba said and argued that they have been transparent in the past when the people they were investigating were former leaders in the PF administration or opposition leaders. “If the person under investigations were a PF former leader, he would not give that silly answer because he wants to score to HH. But because it’s one of them and they are so ashamed that there is corruption in UPND he can afford to be that arrogant. So we shall go to court and have the law tested. That’s my message to him. I will go to court.”
