A-23 -Year -Old Woman of Kabundi East area has died after being stabbed several times by her boyfriend after an argument.
The Incident occured on Saturday June 15, 2024 around 20:45 hours along Ntanda Street in Kabundi East.
Outgoing Copperbelt province police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba identified the deceased as Mubanga Kangwa and named the suspect as King Katanga of Soweto Compound in Chingola.
Mweemba said neighbours who heard the victim screaming, rushed to the scene and found her lying on the ground with cuts on both hands and with multiple deep cuts around the abdomen with protruding intestines.
“Police received a report of murder which happened on June, 17, 2024 around 03:30 hours, in which Lawrence Kangwa aged 61 reported that his daughter who was stabbed by her boyfriend on Sunday, had died. Katanga went to visit the victim and the two left the house, with the view of escorting the boyfriend and while escorting him, they had an argument, which resulted in the victim being stabbed,” he stated.
Mweemba said the deceased was rushed to Kabundi Clinic and was later referred to Nchanga North General hospital where she was admitted.
“Police rushed to Nchanga North General hospital and discovered that the victim had stab wounds on the left leg, both hands and on the stomach with protruding intestines as the sharp instrument is alleged to have been used to inflict the injuries,” he said.
Mweemba said Kangwa died yesterday at the intensive care unit where she was admitted.
He said Katanga who had been on the run has since been apprehended by police.
