A-63-year-old man of Luanshya district on the Copperbelt Province has been arrested for allegedly defiling a mentally disturbed girl in the bush.
The man whose video has gone viral on different social media platforms was found in the bush with the minor by some women, was arrested on June 14, 2024.
In the video, the suspect is heard telling the women that the girl asked him to have sex with her but he was refusing saying the girl was young, hence he could not have sex with her.
He also told the women that his manhood was big and he could not have sex with the victim.
Deputy Police public relations officer Danny Mwale confirmed the development and named the suspect as Frank Chiti.
Mwale said Chiti was found by two women in a comprising state with the girl in Maposa Farming area within Luanshya District.
“Police in Luanshya have arrested a man in connection with the offence of defilement of an imbecile. It is alleged that the girl was lying on the ground while the suspect was in a kneeling position near to the girl with an unzipped pair of trousers,” Mwale said.
He said the women later alerted members of the public who apprehended the suspect together with the victim and handed them over to Police.
“Members of the public identified the victim as an Imbecile aged 14 of Maposa area,” he said.
Mwale said the girl was currently undergoing medical examination at Thompson General Hospital while the suspect was detained in police custody.
