Inspector of Police Graphael Musamba says police handled Miles Sampa’s PF ‘legitimacy’ within the law.

Last week, president Lungu said the State superintendent not only on an illegitimate gathering of Miles Sampa’s faction, but also an illegal one, saying this threatened peace and stability to both the party and the nation.

President Lungu said this illegality had been endorsed by the police against their lawful custody of keeping law and order.

He said the police were among the institutions of governance that are compromised and did not want to say much about them.

But in an interview with Daily Revelation, Musamba said it is regrettable that president Lungu is accusing the police of endorsing an illegal just for doing its job, saying as far as he was concerned, the police did everything within the law.

“It is regrettable because the police did what they did within the law. Everything they did was within the law and that’s it,” Musamba said.

Musamba also said politicians should not work outside the law because the police will be prompted to take the necessary action to do justice.

“Politicians should work within the confines of the law and it will be good for us and it will be good for them. If they work outside the law, I can assure them, the police will just be prompted to take action that is necessary to give justice to people. Everything has time and place for it to happen,” he said.  “And so is the law as it pertains to all these situations. All they need to do is abide by the law and peace will be for everyone in the country to share and we look forward to that. Nobody wants a chaotic situation and that’s why we insist that they abide by the law. Because it won’t be in anybody’s interest to break the law.”
