Former president Edgar Lungu’s daughter, Tasila was today interviewed by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) on issues bordering on suspected money laundering activities.
And Tasila’s lawyer, Makebi Zulu said he did not have any clearance from his client to comment on the matter, and could therefore neither confirm nor deny information that his client was quizzed over money laundering activities.
Well placed sources in the investigative wings have told Daily Revelation that Tasila, who appeared for questioning this morning was interviewed on matters related to some transactions.
“It was basically something to do with suspected money laundering issues. The Commission was trying to verify to see if it’s true she knows something about some transactions that have gone on,” sources told Daily Revelation, and that investigations were still ongoing in the matter.
Contacted for comment, Tasila’s lawyer, Zulu, said questions about the matter should be referred to Tasila herself.
But asked on information which sources have indicated that it bordering on allegations of money laundering, Zulu said: “I can’t confirm nor deny. I don’t have instructions (from my client).”
Repeated attempts to talk to Tasila failed as her mobile phone went unanswered.
And DEC public relations Officer Mathias Kamanga said the commission did not have anything to say about the matter
