National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Saboi lmboela has expressed concern that the court keeps adjourning the case where she is accused of defaming State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka.
Imboela said the adjournments are being made just one week in between and this has created a situation where she has to be at court every week.
She said the fact that the prosecutor was absent at court yesterday, was an indication that he knew that the magistrate would not be available, but failed to communicate with her lawyers.
Imboela said as an accused person, she had to be at court every week, saying it was unfair.
She said she had to attend court when the prosecutor knew for a fact that the matter would not take off.
The case has been adjourned to April 15 for continuation of defence.
In this case, Imboela of Lilayi is charged with two counts of libel contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
The prosecution closed its case and Imboela was found with a case to answer.
The case is now at defence stage and her first witness was journalist Wilson Pondamali who told the court he was a former reporter, editor and co-admin of the page Zambia Watchdog.
Pondamali disclosed that he worked with Hamasaka at Zambia Watchdog to create propaganda stories in favour of UPND during the time it was in opposition.
He also told resident magistrate Sylvia Munyinya that Imboela complained to him that she was having media wrangles with Feston Hamasaka.
Pondamali said he later saw a post on Saboi Imboela I.S page which she posted stating that Hamasaka was having an affair and that his marriage was on rocks.
He said soon after Imboela’s posting, he saw in a WhatsApp blog called Dynamic Analysis Zambia a comment of Clayson Hamasaka threatening to take legal action against her.
