Socialist Party general secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali says the party is a trend setter in Zambian politics.
Speaking at the official opening of the second General Congress which was held at Cosmic Lodge in Lusaka, Dr Musumali asked how many political parties in Zambia could boast of holding elective general congress within a short period like the Socialist Party.
“Again we have held our first general congress which started on the 22nd of September 2019 at Fish Valley Resort here in Lusaka. That is exactly 18 months after the party launch. We are meeting and we are back again in the congress. Tell me who else does that, who else does that?” he asked.
Dr Musumali said the Socialist Party was well organised and that was the reason why the party was going to run the country better.
He said the Socialist Party had proved those who were saying on social media that it was not going to hold its general congress.
“Holding this congress was not the easiest. Some of you are getting it already on the social media and…from some of those bulletins that have nothing else to do other than to insult the Socialist Party,” Dr Musumali said.
“They are already talking about our congress.They said the congress is not going to take place. But today we have proved them wrong.”
Meanwhile, Dr Musumali said most of the members who left the party were knocking on the door again requesting to go back.
He said Dr Musumali said the door was still open for them to come back.
“We also have comrades that were mislead they left. But most of the comrades are knocking on the door. Please wherever you are, you are welcome,” Dr Musumali said.
“And also we live in a toxic environment. And that toxic environment most the time the information people get it is not the correct information.”
