Lupososhi member of parliament (PF) Emmanuel Mpankata says he has been taken by surprise over the emergence of the ‘Njomba Njomba’ boys and other hooligans in the party, whom he said appear like someone grows them in a special greenhouse to be unleashed for political violence.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Mpankata accused the Njomba Njomba boys of threatening certain people from contesting the PF presidency.
“Those are boys who use crankshafts and engine blocks, flywheels to do body building, no wonder their bodies are slightly tilted because those things they carry are uneven. They look like someone grows them somewhere to unleash them for political violence,” Mpankata said. “They look like someone grows them in a special greenhouse for political violence. When it’s time to use them they are sent to threaten people like the ones we saw at Embassy Park during the memorial service of late president Michael Sata.”
Mpankata said he has been in the party for 20 years, but what has fascinated him is the emergence of “these hooligans.” He said they never existed during late president Sata’s time as he was a disciplinarian.
“We don’t know who is manufacturing them. Some people want to use these to show some imitation of popularity,” Mpankata said. “Some people know that no normal member will follow them, so they are using these to show some clout. Let there be civility, not where some people are threatening ‘if I am not elected, I will go with my people.’ Why can’t they go now?”
Mpankata said despite the threats, many will still come out to declare their intentions when the time is right, saying they were simply following procedure as meekness should not be misinterpreted for cowardice.
