THOSE WHO STOLE CAN’T DESTROY EVIDENCE … there is a paper trail everywhere, says Mucheleka

The plunderers in the previous PF administration should not celebrate too early because they left a paper trail everywhere, says ruling UPND deputy secretary general Patrick Mucheleka.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Mucheleka said those who were celebrating that the fight against corruption was not yielding tangible results were celebrating too early.

“You know we are methodical ourselves in our approach and we respect people’s rights, the President has made it very clear, that no one must be arrested before the investigations are done. So those who are celebrating that the fight against corruption will not bear fruit are mistaken,” Mucheleka said. “They have to wait, for us we are doing things differently … therefore no one will be arrested or judged because of public pressure or what. The investigations are going on and where the enforcement agencies feel that they have sufficient grounds on which to effect an arrest will do that.”

Mucheleka sounded confident in the work that was being undertaken.

“So those who are celebrating, if at all they stole and they know that they stole, they should not celebrate too early. And if they think they will destroy evidence I mean they left a paper trail everywhere, so they will be followed up. So they should not celebrate too early,” said Mucheleka.

He also said even with former president Edgar Lungu, it was premature to talk about him, including discussing issues surrounding his immunity unless a prima facie case were established.
