PF urges ECZ to enforce regulations over use of PF regalia by Tonse, Pamodzi

The PF has urged the Tonse and Pamodzi Alliance of Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu to stop using PF symbols.

In a statement yesterday, PF deputy secretary general Edwin Lifwekelo stated that the PF had observed with serious concern that some political parties and individuals continue to use PF symbols, regalia, slogans, and the names associated with PF former Republican presidents, Michael Chilufya Sata and Edgar Chagwa Lungu, despite having separated themselves from the Patriotic Front and formed or joined other political entities.

“We therefore wish to strongly caution those involved to immediately desist from using Patriotic Front symbols, regalia, party identity, and materials for political mobilization or campaigns outside the official structures of the Patriotic Front,” Lifwekelo stated. “We further remind all political players that every registered political party has its own constitution, manifesto, identity, and guiding principles. It is therefore important that those who have moved away from the Patriotic Front adhere to the slogans, symbols, and political direction of their respective new parties instead of misleading members of the public through the unauthorized use of PF identity.”

He called upon the Electoral Commission of Zambia to take note of these concerns and ensure that electoral regulations were fully respected during this election period, particularly regarding the unauthorized use of party symbols and regalia.

“Rhe Patriotic Front remains the legitimate custodian of its symbols, identity, and legacy under the leadership of Mr. Miles Bwalya Sampa. Only the official Patriotic Front leadership and structures reserve the right to use and represent the names and political heritage of our founding leaders, Dr. Michael Chilufya Sata and Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu,” Lifwekelo stated. “We urge all members and supporters across the country to remain peaceful, united, and focused as we continue strengthening the party and promoting democratic values in Zambia.”

He stated that the PF, however, congratulated the FDD, Resolute Party, and Tonse Alliance president Brian Mundubile for the political merger and cooperation with Makebi Zulu.

“We believe this development is a positive step towards unity of purpose, which many Zambians have long desired in the political landscape of our country,” stated Lifwekelo. “As Patriotic Front, we acknowledge and respect the democratic right of political parties and alliances to organize themselves freely in pursuit of their political objectives. Unity among political players should always be guided by national interest, peace, and respect for democratic principles.”
