President Hakainde Hichilema on Friday afternoon, managed to successfully file his nomination for the August 13 general elections.
Accompanied by the first lady Mutinta together with his running mate Mutale Nalumango, who were both wearing red dresses, the President Hichilema’s
nomination was validated by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) less than twenty minutes after he submitted his nomination papers.
The nomination which was themed as the “mother of all nominations” lived up to the name .Thousands of cadres clad in UPND regalia thronged Mulungushi international conference center. Vehicles had a tough time passing through the great north road. Cadres were seen violating road traffic rules in full view of the Zambia Police.

And speaking after he filed his nomination, President Hichilema itemized the number of achievements that the UPND government had achieved. Among them, free education, increased investment in the mining sector, the growth of the country’s reserves to $6.2 billion among others achievements
“Five years ago Zambia stood divided. Economically distressed and internationally isolated. Violence, corruption and reckless borrowing had taken root in our country,” President Hichilema said.
