Luapula Province permanent secretary Prudence Chinama-Kangwa has thanked the government for allocating Luapula Province 317 health workers, of which 300 have already reported for duty.

According to the provincial administration public relations unit, Kangwa said efforts were underway to address payroll placement challenges affecting 31 officers.

Kangwa also disclosed that Luapula, which was recognized as Zambia’s Best Performing Human Resource Management Committee in 2025, remained committed to maintaining high standards of efficiency and accountability as government continued implementing its decentralisation programme.

She said this during a courtesy call on her office by Civil Service Commission chairperson Dr Choolwe Beyani who said that the commission had commenced a post-recruitment assessment of the recently concluded recruitment of 2000 health workers.

Dr Beyani said the assessment would evaluate the successes, challenges and lessons from the recruitment exercise while identifying measures to strengthen future recruitment processes.

He said the decentralised recruitment system had empowered provinces to make human resource decisions closer to the people, adding that Human resource management committees must continue to uphold accountability, transparency and professionalism.

He also urged provincial authorities to adequately induct the newly recruited officers to enhance quality healthcare delivery.
