NRPUP presidential running-mate Makebi Zulu has asked the people of Kapiri-Mposhi what wrong they have committed that President Hakainde Hichilema could not give any of their residents a job during the rally he held in the area last week, when he had done the same in Kasama.
And Mundubile said he wanted to unite the country as he did not want Zambians to be pointing at each other that those are “Zambezi, those are the bantu botatwe”, saying Zambia was one united nation.
Addressing a rally in Kapiri Mposhi yesterday, Zulu told Kapiri residents that their friends were getting jobs at rallies.
“Last week the President was here, did he offer any jobs at the rallies? What wrong have you people here in Kapiri committed against the President? Your friends are getting jobs at presidential rallies. If he comes and gives you jobs please get them and Mundubile will pay you,” Zulu said.
Zulu, after he asked for a few merchandise from within the crowd which people pack in small packets for sale, wondered why they had continued doing so when President Hichilema denounced the same during his time as an opposition leader. He said he expected them to be selling 25kg bags of mealie-meal as opposed to small packets popularly referred to as pamelas.
“You can’t vote for a liar. What has he done here in Kapiri? He lied that ‘Bally will fix it, while lifting food merchandise packed in little packets for sale,'” Zulu said.
“Is there fertilizer for K250 here,” asked Zulu, as the crowd shouted back saying, “no, it’s K1400.”
And presidential candidate Brian Mundubile said change was on the way.
He said in the same manner the people of Kapiri were suffering, the whole country was suffering too.
Mundubile said most people’s businesses had closed up because of the over three-year loadshedding crisis the country endured leading to 2025.
Mundubile said President Hichilema himself said that when leaders fail, the people must remove that government, in the same manner he said Hichilema must be removed for failing.
He said Hichilema forgot that power lies with the people.
Mundubile said he would resurrect the factory in Kapiri to manufacture glasses.
He said he would prioritise electricity supply to Zambians as opposed to foreigners.
Mundubile said he would reduce the electricity tariffs which President Hichilema had maintained after he claimed that it was a temporary measure as there was an emergency at the time.
He said his government would introduce a law for companies to provide life assurance to truck drivers.
As for TAZARA, he said the government would work towards ensuring that the railway company was offering jobs to the people.
He said if elected be would continue with the free education policy but not in the manner it was being provided now with over 100 pupils in classrooms.
He said the government would revise the housing allowance for teachers in the short term and look at building more houses for teachers in the medium to long term.
He said his administration would build more hospitals.
Mundubile said school children would be provided with books and school uniforms.
He said he would continue with Social Cash Transfer but devoid of the discrimination he said it was being administered now.
“I and Makebi are not gods that you should be scared of us. If we lie and we are called to account you should not be arrested for calling out the lies like if someone promised to provide mealie-meal at K50,” said Mundubile.
He said even as the UPND would go into opposition, they would be allowed to hold rallies in September as that was their right.
He said he did not want Zambians to be pointing at each other that those are “Zambezi, those are the bantubotatwe as Zambia was one united nation.”
He said it was over for cadres in police uniforms.
