Mumbi Phiri has thanked God for being the greatest equalisser that PF lost the elections as the country would have been destroyed by what she termed Professor Nkandu Luo’s pomposity and lies.
And Phiri has dismissed Prof Luo’s claims that she gave up running for Munali in 2006 for her, and even helped raise money for Phiri, wondering how she could have done so when she (Luo) was broke and driving a green corolla which was owned by her brother who is in the United States of America.
In an audio note seen by Daily Revelation Media, Phiri, the immediate past PF deputy secretary general, said he had been forced to respond to Prof Luo’s assertions who accused her of sponsoring people to insult her and having worked towards allocating land to PF cadres, where the nuclear center was to be constructed.
Phiri unleashed on Prof Luo.
“My sister, same blood, and for those who don’t know Prof Luo’s grandmother was the immediate young sister to my grandmother, same mother same father. Could she do what she did? Is that normal? Ukupama kwafilya Awee kwena Lesa alichitile bwino ati twalilusa pantu Ba Nkandu amuba ba running mate nayo amataki mwakwata, ubufi mwakwata ichalo ngachali onaika. Lesa wamulinganya (That attitude you have, that pomposity and lying attitude, thank God we lost. If you had been vice-President this country would have been destroyed. God is the greatest equaliser),” Phiri said. “Wait for round two up to round four.”
She said she had been forced to respond because Prof Luo’s “hatred was too much”, warning that this was just the beginning as people should know the truth. She urged Luo to stop claiming that late president Michael Sata was her relative.
“Michael Chilufya Sata is not our relative. If ba Nkandu wants to claim that he is our relative, yes her sister was married to ba Michael Sata’s first wife’s brother, who was the first born, ba Edwin Manda. How can we claim ati ba Sata niba yama wesu? It’s not true,” Phiri said. “And if people remember even when ba Sata died, ba Mayo who was married to the former clerk of the National Assembly was claiming to be ba Sata’s sister, those of you who remember I went to ZNBC and challenged her to explain to me how we were related to ba Sata. She never did that.”
Phiri continued.
“Nomba abakalamba bandi because she lies in the name of education she thinks she can get away with it. Secondly she wants me to be looking bad in the eyes of people that they brought me up. I came here in Lusaka having started school Grade 1 to 7 at Buyantanshi Primary school in Mufulira. Grade 8 up to my last term of my grade 10 I was at Mufulira secondary school,” Phiri said. “I came here in Lusaka, yes I was staying with her sister from 1985 I was at Kabulonga girls to 1990 when I got married to my husband. Now is there a child who grows in five years, because I stayed with her sister for five years. Can she claim they brought me up?
“Ba Nkandu is just ashamed and I have told you that I have just started I think people need to know the truth. I have got got pictures of how I used to live in Lusaka, I have never wanted to talk about this, but this is too much. You will see and you will appreciate why I have been forced to speak.”
She said she did not know PF ward officials Monta and Kelvin Mwaba (Papa Gunase) as Prof Luo alleged.
“And since I came into politics even Forest 27 I don’t have any plot there. How can you claim that why we hate you is because I and Mr Mwila we wanted to share land yaku NASA? Are you normal? We know you are a professor but don’t think we are dull. How do I come into this story? You want to paint a bad picture about me,” Phiri said, charging that people had a low estimation of Prof Luo, “balimisula for your lies. People know it’s not you who suggested kuli ba Sata that he adopts me. Even going to 2011, we were in the same vehicle with aunt Lambe, the former Chief Justice when we quarreled. You wanted to go and stand in Mandevu, and I said you can’t displace Jean Kapata she is a fellow woman like you, little did I know that you started eyeing my seat and you got it.”
She wondered why Prof Luo claimed she had no money to sponsor her 2006 run for the Munali seat, saying that was a big insult to her husband who single handedly sponsored her campaign.
“Where did you give me even one Ngwee? And people can believe because you are a professor and yet you are lying with your straight face. Ba Nkandu imwe you had nothing, you had become broke, you were driving a green Corolla, for your young brother Dr Chewe who is in America? Where could you get money to sponsor my campaign?” Phiri asked. “Ba Nkandu leave me alone and this is just the beginning. Next I am putting up pictures I want people to see proof of how I was being kept so that people can make their own judgement. Mwalaba that in 1987 nobody could pay for my Cambridge fee, I had to go and get money from my mother. It’s you who dropped me in the village where my mother was living. You want to get credit for something which you didn’t contribute.
“It’s like a situation where one has baked a cake, creams it well but then applies feaces to it. I am forced now to speak because you want the people of Zambia o look at me as if I am not grateful as you claim you brought me up. I will make this viral. So that when the people see what I was washing we will see if they will look at you with the same face. Muntendekefye. And as I have said I don’t want to die, isho imfuti mulelandapo, ubwanga tekubomfya umuti just words from people’s mouths.”
