Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) says himself, his wife and son’s attempts to travel outside the country have been stopped by the authorities.
And Mwamba said he is avoiding to mention how much he will contribute towards the holding of the general conference in PF on account that “we are dealing with a petty government that will follow me even in my bedroom”, but disclosed that he would contribute towards the undertaking.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Mwamba said himself, his wife and son have been stopped from leaving the country, saying he was due to fly out to South Africa on Tuesday, but after he called Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) after his own son had been stopped on two occasions from flying out, someone from the airport told him not to even waste his time going there as he would not be allowed to fly out of the country.
“I, my wife and my son we can’t fly out of the country. We have been informed that President Hakainde Hichilema has given directives that we must not fly out,” Mwamba said. “I was due to fly out on Tuesday but somebody from the airport tipped me that you won’t fly. In the evening, my son was due to fly but he was stopped. He has been stopped from flying out on two occasions.”
Asked how much he would contribute towards the holding of the conference in PF, Mwamba said it was important to quickly fundraise once the party had announced the date for the convention, but that it was not the question of him being rich, because everyone should contribute towards the same to feel a sense of belonging.
“I can’t say that (how much he would contribute) until I see what the other colleagues have contributed and maybe come in to mitigate the shortfall,” Mwamba said. “Mind you, we are dealing with a petty regime. They will follow me even in my bedroom. So what I will contribute will only be known by the party leaders.”
And speaking during an appearance on Millennium Radio, Mwamba said he believed President Hichilema then as an opposition leader when he joined to work with him because of how he spoke for the Zambian people and was convinced that he would make a good leader.
He said President Hichilema had gone under 6 presidents before him and should have therefore learnt some skills on what they did wrong or right, “but unfortunately he learnt nothing from all these presidents.”
Mwamba ranked President Hichilema among the worst presidents the nation has had, saying he had let the people down as they expected a lot from him.
“Being an economist, even the price of mealie meal will have come down to K90, the price of all the other commodities will have come down. But it has turned out to be the opposite,” said Mwamba.
