MUNIR’S UNPALATABLE CONDUCT IS DEPRIVING HIS PEOPLE REPRESENTATION, SAYS IMBOELA

By Isaac Zulu

National Democratic Congress leader Saboi Imboela has said that Lumezi of parliament Munir Zulu should stop using unpalatable language in Parliament.

Reacting to a statement that was used by Munir Zulu in Parliament on Thursday to the effect that all parliamentarians are adults because they all cut some pubic hair, Imboela said that the continued usage of unpalatable language by the Lumezi member of parliament will be denying the people in his Constituency an opportunity to be effectively represented in Parliament.

She said that members of parliament should be role models, hence the need for them to desist from using words that are insulting and demeaning in the eyes of National Assembly.

“We always enjoy the debates that come from Munir Zulu, but the unfortunate thing is that sometimes he goes off line. In March this year he was suspended from Parliament for 10 days. And this time around the parliamentarian has been caught off guard, saying unprintables in Parliament that is not befiting a member of parliament,” Imboela explained in an interview. “And I think Munir Zulu should check himself because he went to Parliament to represent the people who voted for him in his Constituency. This continued usage of unpalatable language in Parliament has continued to deny the residents of Lumezi the much needed representation in Parliament.”

She noted that the 30 days suspension slapped on Zulu has come at a time when parliamentarians
will be debating the 2023 national budget, saying the Lumezi lawmaker should have taken this opportunity to have an input in the approved 2023 national budget and ensure that the concerns of his constituents are taken on board.

“This is a critical moment when members of parliament will be debating the proposed 2023 national budget. And I am sure the people from his Constituency would have loved to see that their member of parliament representing them in Parliament,” said Imboela.
