I have been in MMD, PF and UPND and that makes me more experienced than all the PF presidential contenders, says Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Mwamba said he wants to salvage PF from collapsing.
“It’s my experience in politics, that’s what makes me better. I have been in the game for some time now. I was in MMD, PF and UPND. So I have very wide experience particularly coming out of three different political parties. It makes me different from others, those who have not been in those parties,” he said.
Asked on information that former president Edgar Lungu is supportive of leader of the opposition in parliament, Brian Mundubile’s candidature, Mwamba said: “I don’t want to comment on speculation. If he’s supporting him let it be. But my view is I’m only counting on my mission. My task is to salvage PF from collapsing. I am not worried about other people’s interests. My mission is what I have just said.”
One of his competitors for the PF presidency, Chishimba Kambwili recently urged his party to relook the long campaign period as it will risk dividing the party and focus energies on electioneering instead of other party matters, however, Mwamba offered a different opinion saying the longer campaign period was good in order for candidates to be known by the party electorate.
He said he would be ready to work with whoever will be chosen to help the party from collapsing.
Mwamba who has been known to announce the figures he would spend in previous elections was asked how much he would spend on this particular campaign, but he said he would not share such kind of information to the public, adding however, that such kind of events come with expenses.
“I am sure you don’t expect my supporters to stay hungry. They have to eat,” said Mwamba.
