WE MUST NOT POLITIC ON SERIOUS MATTERS – KAJOBA … if they can’t come to police, we shall help them to

By Staff Reporter

Inspector General of police Lemmy Kajoba says police waited long enough for people who were making assertions that Tutwa Ngulube was poisoned to report the matter to police, warning “if they can’t come to police then we have to help them to come to the police.”

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Kajoba said people must own the statements they make and substantiate them as there was a life that has been lost, and all the people want to know the cause of death.

“And if someone says I know then that person should not just end up at making those statements. You need to go to the police and say this is what I know about the cause of death of this person. Let’s not politic on serious matters. This is a life of a very prominent person in Zambia that was lost, and should be conscious that he has a family,” Kajoba said.

But asked why it had to take him to act following Economic Front (EF) leader Wynter Kabimba’s observations on the matter calling for civil politics in the country, when the statements in question were made days before that, Kajoba claimed that it did not take Kabimba to make the police wake up, saying inquiries were opened way before that to establish if there was any foul play. “We did the due processes that we do as police of letting the body go to hospital. And an opinion was given and we were waiting for any other person that probably we can take it in a different angle. However, we realized that people started making those statements. And I think it is now that police realized that I think we waited long enough for them to come to police. If they can’t come to police then we have to help them to come to police,” said Kajoba.
