I SPOKE ON MILINGO EARLIER THAN HICHILEMA, SAYS DPP

By Isaac Zulu Director of Public Prosecutions Gilbert Phiri says he spoke earlier than President Hakainde Hichilema when asked on his decision to lift the immunity of former KCM liquidator Milingo Lungu which came barely 48 hours after the President said that the DPP will soon take action on the issue of Konkola Copper Mines.

Asked if the statement by the President to the effect that the DPP’s office would soon act on KCM and his subsequent decision to lift the immunity of former KCM liquidator Milingo Lungu was by design or coincidence, considering that his office enjoys some tenure of office and is supposed to operate independently without any influence from the appointing authority, Phiri said that the first statement he made has highlighted which one came first.

“Get back to the statement that I earlier made. You will know which one came first and which one came second,” Phiri said. He also said that his priorities in the execution of his mandate are clearly in the same statement, saying he might
