Two time African journalist of the year Hopewell Chin’ono says it is strange that President Hakainde Hichilema would refuse to meet a leading academician like Dr Sishuwa Sishuwa for purposes of providing clarity on issues of public interested.
Dr Sishuwa has tweeted that “My many requests to interview @HHichilema on the 2021 election have been unsuccessful. I have already interviewed the three former presidents who were involved in the transition. Like Lungu, they were helpful to my research and I am grateful to them for the insights they shared.”
Responding, Chin’ono, a Zimbabwean stated that: “This sounds strange Dr @ssishuwa Why would a democrat like @HHichilema refuse to meet a leading Zambian academic like yourself for purposes of helping with clarity on issues of public interest like an election transition, when you were also persecuted for supporting that change?”
In response, Dr Sishuwa stated that he was reluctant to say more on the matter “out of respect for the presidency.”
“What I can easily say is that when a former president can publicly admit that they were wrong to think a critic of some of their leadership actions was a hired gun, then those in power should reflect,” stated Dr Sishuwa.
