I’M DETERMINED TO UNITE ZAMBIA – HICHILEMA

By Merlyn Mwanza

President Hakainde Hichilema says he is determined to unite the country as evidenced by his cabinet, in line with what founding President Dr Kenneth Kaunda envisioned.

President Hichilema has been acccused of skewing appointments in the public service towards Southern, Western and North-Western provinces, when he is the same one who criticised his predecessor Edgar Lungu for appointing mostly Northerners and Easterners to key government positions.

However, in his message President Hichilema re-affirmed his belief that he is uniting the country.

“Our word is simply: Thank you, Your Royal Highnesses. We are one Zambia, one Nation and one people and we are delivering on our campaign promises. We are determined to unite this country as evidenced by our cabinet, and this is in line with what our First President, President Kenneth Kaunda envisioned,” the President argued.

The President who paid a courtesy call on their Royal Highnesses; Chief Katuta, Chief Chabula, and representative of Chieftaincy Chungu here in Lupososhi, Northern Province, said his conversation with them was around the need to work together for the greater good of all.

“It is uplifting to hear their Royal Highnesses express gratitude for the efforts we are making in ensuring the prosperity of Zambia. Among them mentioned during our courtesy call at Kalaba Primary School was the NAPSA partial withdrawal,” President Hichilema stated. “CDF rigidities were also mentioned, and their Royal Highnesses remain optimistic that this is a game changer and taking resources to the people is confirmation of decentralisation.”

He argued that Zambia is destined for greatness, and did not take for granted the opportunity bestowed on him to deliver change.

“This is why we say that whoever stands in the way of development and our vision will surely be asked to step aside,” stated President Hichilema. “We are in a hurry to deliver development and any stumbling issue will be dealt with decisively.”
