We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the government for recognizing the vital role that TAZARA plays in bolstering trade, fostering regional integration, and promoting socio-economic development within our great nation,” Silumbe said to Daily Revelation media. “As we express our deep appreciation and delight, we acknowledge that our work is far from over. The challenges being faced by TAZARA are complex and require ongoing dedication, perseverance and collective efforts. However, with the invaluable support of the government, we are confident that we can overcome these challenges and steer TAZARA towards a prosperous and sustainable future.”
He said that Crews and Allied Workers Union of Zambia remains committed to collaborating with government in ensuring that the railway company is revitalised and runs profitably.
“Crews and Allied Workers Union of Zambia recognize the crucial role being played by government in shaping policies and creating an enabling environment for the progress and prosperity of our nation. We understand that effective governance, committed leadership and the implementation of sustainable development strategies are essential for the benefit of all citizens. That is why we are fully committed to collaborating with the government to achieve these objectives,” he said. “I call upon the government to establish mechanisms and strategies that will ensure the efficient and effective functioning of TAZARA. Additionally, we request the UPND government’s support in addressing the financial constraints hindering the optimal functioning of TAZARA, leading to the delayed payment of salaries.”
And Silumbe said that Crews and Allied Workers Union of Zambia has initiated training programmes for its members, aimed at enhancing overall efficiency and effectiveness of TAZARA operations.
“CRAWUZ has played a pivotal role in providing professional development opportunities, ensuring that TAZARA employees have access to training programmes and skill enhancement initiatives. By investigating in its members’ growth and expertise, CRAWUZ has not only improved the conditions of service, but also enhanced overall efficiency and effectiveness of TAZARA operations. Together, let us build a stronger and more prosperous further for both CRAWUZ and TAZARA,” said Silumbe.
