Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has dismissed claims that the UPND administration has trimmed security detail for the former president Edgar Lungu.
Patriot Front (PF) secretary general Raphael Nakachinda claimed in a video posted on social media that the UPND administration has reduced the number of security personnel for the former president.
Nakachinda who accused Mweetwa of being behind the scheme, urged PF youth to mobilise and start providing security to president Lungu.
But Mweetwa who is also Information and Media minister told Daily Revelation newspaper in an interview that allegations from Nakachinda were false.
The minister advised the PF against peddling lies aimed at creating an impression to show that the UPND administration wanted to curtail the freedoms and privileges for the former Head of State, when in fact not.
Mweetwa accused the PF leadership of engaging in “cheap political propaganda” with a view of gaining political mileage over issues that did not exist.Mweetwa added that instead of wasting time responding to PF propagandists, the UPND administration would rather concentrate on delivering on its campaign promises.
“Those sentiments and hallucinations are just coming from the Patriot Front because they are known for being propagandists,” said Mweetwa. “What I can tell you is that the security detail entitled to the former president is still the same and intact.”
