ACC is raising allegations against me, says Katambo

Masaiti member of parliament (PF) Michael Katambo says the Anti-Corruption Commission is raising allegations against him.

Well placed sources in the investigative wings told Daily Revelation that last Monday and Tuesday, the commission stormed former agriculture minister in the PF Edgar Lungu administration, Katambo’s properties in Central and Copperbelt provinces over property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Sources said that the law enforcement agencies were focusing on the 25 trucks and eight tractors; suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Contacted for comment, Katambo said he would not comment as it was the ACC that was raising the allegations, but indicated that his lawyers were handling the matter.

“Who is accusing who? Is it not the ACC that is raising those allegations? You have the story that you wrote, so you get back to the Anti-Corruption Commission on the same allegations. Otherwise, my lawyers are handling that matter,” said Katambo.

But when reached for a comment, Anti-Corruption Commission head of corporate affairs Timothy Moono only said that he would issue a statement on the matter today.

“You should exercise some patience… Yes, you sent me a press query, but there are processes involved and different departments have to go through that. I don’t have the information, I don’t have the details. So call me first thing on Monday. That’s when we can talk,” said Moono.
