National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate Brian Mundubile says the August 13 general election is going to be the second independence for the people of Zambia.

Speaking during a mammoth public rally in Kitwe on Saturday, Mundubile said the August 13 polls would enable the Zambian people to liberate themselves from the UPND government.

“I thought that was important, because the elections that will be held on 13 of August will be called the second independence. Second Independence which will enable the Zambian people to be liberated. So our mothers and fathers, we have moved from that point,” Mundubile said. “We have marked the removal of Cyber laws. People should have a lawyer nearby in order for them to express themselves. People should have freedom of expression.”

Mundubile said once elected in the August presidential elections he was going to review all the cyber laws.

“Before l go far, let me tell you that I will review all the cyber laws, so that you have peace. Pastors, pastors like Duncan Simuchimba you should not not be scared. We shall remove those laws they are using to arrest you, when you are speaking for the marketeers,” Mundubile said. “When you speak on behalf of the poor people, they arrest you. All pastors who are here lift your hands? I am giving you a promise, be at peace. We are going to change the laws to give you freedom of expression.”

Mundubile promised the jerabos that he would give them the dump sites where they had been working from.

“I now come to my friends, my friends who work hard in order to keep their families. These are called jerabos. They are called small-scale miners. Without even beating about the bush, let me tell you, without even beating about the bush, let us start from Chingola,” said Mundubile. “When we come we will give you back Senseli. All the people in Mufulira … in Mufulira, in Chililabombwe, in Chingola, here in Kitwe all the areas, in Kalulushi. We will even reach Lufwanyama where they dig gold, where they dig diamonds. We are going to bring back your things.”
