Ba Lungu bakabombela ijele bakafilwa noku shininkisha , says longtime PF member and former PF Lusaka provincial chairlady Charity Banda.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Banda said former president Edgar Lungu’s rise to the presidency was plain sailing as opposed to what the other presidents have faced where they spent some time in police cells.
She said it seems ichiwa nachikola (an evil spirit) has overtaken those who are asking him to come back so that maybe he too can spend some time in prison in order to qualify for another shot at the presidency.
“For me I can’t believe that there are people that are talking about Lungu coming back. And Lungu he has never faced jail time, not even when he was in the opposition. Sata just left it for him. But they are forcing Lungu to come back,” Banda said. “Ninshi balefwaya ba Lungu bakabakake (Do they want Lungu to be arrested)? Bakabombela ijele bakafilwa nokushininkisha. Ichiwa chilakola (He will serve his time in a jail cell such that he will fail to believe it. Sometimes evil spirits can overtake ones thinking such that they fail to reason). Those shouting Lungu should come back want him to be arrested because he is not satisfied with leading a quiet life. You just served well but now are calling for the devil to work.”
Banda said she did not believe that any normal person would ask someone who had just served seven years in office should come back, asking “to do what which he didn’t do in seven years?”
“So that he qualifies well by going to jail? May be it’s what they want. It’s like ichiwa chilakola,” said Banda.
A “civil war” is going on in the PF where those who seem to be pushing for a Lungu come back are at war with those aligned with Miles Sampa, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba and Chishimba Kambwili, according to several whatsapp audios detailing the arguments made available to Daily Revelation.
Those against the trio argue that the trio contributed to PF’s defeat during their brief wilderness from the party when they aligned with President Hakainde Hichilema then as opposition leader.
However, those against a Lungu come back argue that he has already served his time in office and must leave space for the others, especially that he was removed from office after losing heavily to President Hichilema.
In one of the messages posted by one opposed to Lungu, the blogger said that those wanting Lungu to come back must allow the man to stay away and keep his dignity, warning that his second fall would be harder than his first when he lost by one million votes to Hichilema.
The blogger said he was aware that some PF presidential aspirants will withdraw from the race in the lead up to the convention to leave room for Lungu, but warned that a president must be properly elected this time around as opposed to the show of hands through which Lungu was elected the first time out.
