BEN PHIRI WANTS MUSEVENI’S SON TO SUCCEED HIM

By Merlyn Mwanza

Former Luapula Province permanent secretary Major Ben Phiri says he will support Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to succeed him as president of that country.

However Gen Muhoozi has been accused of unleashing a brutal crusade against the opposition elements in Uganda, including torture and abduction, among several human rights abuses, accounts which Maj Phiri described as unverifiable accusations which have come and gone.

In a statement to Daily Revelation, Maj Phiri stated that President Museveni’s first born son Lieutenant General Muhoozi has retired from the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces after 28 years of service.

“The 3 star General who turns 48 on 24th April, has served in various command and staff appointments in the army but has lately cut an international image by playing a pivotal role in normalizing the frosty relations between Uganda and it’s South western neighbour, Rwanda. Gen Kainerugaba recently undertook a diplomatic visit to Rwanda during which time he held high level talks with the Rwandan President Paul Kagame. It’s instructive to note that following the visit to Kigali, the boarder has been opened after its closure in 2019,” Maj Phiri stated. “General Muhoozi could possibly be drifting towards the political landscape and he possesses sufficient attributes to have a go at the top job of President in the fourth coming elections slated for 2026. Gen Muhoozi is highly tipped to succeed President Museveni NOT as the son, but as a bona fide Ugandan who fully meets the eligibilitycriteria for the number one job in the land.”

Maj Phiri continued.

“The general has undergone all the requisite military courses and has participated in active combat operations in volatile war zones like Somalia, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He remains my choice as a naturally acceptable successor to Mzee Museveni at the zenith of the Pearl of Africa’s political pyramid For God and my Country,” stated Maj Phiri.
