Calls for Lungu to pay back nonsensical – Nakachinda

 By Isaac Zulu

Raphael Nakachinda has described calls by some sections of society that former president Edgar Lungu should pay back the money he got from the government when he announced his retirement from active politics as nonsensical.

Featuring on Kapiri Mposhi based KBC Radio Station, Nakachinda, who is the PF faction secretary general, said those calling Lungu to pay back all the money he got from government are doing so out of emotions and from a shallow point of view.

“Retirement from active politics should be interpreted correctly. From the time that president Edgar Lungu left office, he has never been in active politics. So those assertions are nonsensical and are coming from individuals with emotions and shallow points of view,” Nakachinda said.

He argued that Edgar Lungu had opted to announce his return to active politics in a bid to save the country from the shrinking democracy by the UPND government.

“The shrinking democratic space by the UPND should not be allowed. As a party, the Patriotic Front, our focus is on ensuring that democracy is restored in the country. Hence the decision by president Edgar Lungu to announce his return to active politics. We want to protect our democracy,” said Nakachinda.

He also said that the UPND is aware that it will be a one term government, saying that it is for this reason that the announcement of president Lungu to come back to active politics is sending shivers in the UPND camp.

if indeed Lungu did not resign then he should pay back the money he got from the government.
Nakachinda should stop contradicting himself by saying lungu didn’t resign he only stopped active politics. It’s nonsensical and not adding up. If he resigned well, he should not pay back the money but should apply to rejoin PF and if he didn’t resign then he is a member of PF and should pay back the money and appear in court for fraud
