Former Republican vice-president Dr Scott’s wife, Dr Charlotte, has liked a Tweet castigating government’s move to renovate the Speaker’s Lodge and installing a sauna in it.
Sipho Phiri has tweeted his misgivings against the move warning that “this is how it starts if we are all quiet.”
“Government is renovating Speakers Lodge and INSTALLING A SAUNA??? Boma shuwa? A Sauna??? This is how it starts if we are all quiet! @HHichilema @S_Musokotwane,” Sipho tweeted, to which Dr Charlotte, a known President Hakainde Hichilema and UPND supporter, posted like.
The National Assembly has asked bidders to submit for the works to renovate the lodge, which will cover among other issues carefully removing the existing aluminum doors and windows and supply and install new aluminum framed sliding doors and windows to selected rooms and make good any surface disturbed.
The existing entertainment units, cabinets and fittings will also be removed for new ones, including the construction of a sauna room complete with accessories.
A sauna is a room designed as a place to experience dry and wet heat sessions. The steam and high heat make the bathers perspire and may provide benefits for cardiovascular health that resemble those derived from exercise.
