UPND Central Province chairman Albert Chifita has said that party members jostling for positions in diplomatic Missions are being irrational.
In an interview with Daily Revelation, Chifita it not possible for government to assimilate all party members in the civil service.
“It is unfortunate and unreasonable for some UPND party officials and party cadres to expect the government to give them positions in diplomatic Missions. It is not possible for government to give employment to all party members from our party structures,” said Chifita. “In Bemba they say ‘mango taipila pamo.’ You do not expect all mangoes to get ripe at once. Therefore, we do not expect the President to give positions to all the more than two million Zambians that voted for the UPND or indeed thousands and thousands of UPND members and sympathisers.”
Chifita reminded UPND party members that, even in the Western World, not all party loyalists are rewarded with government positions.
“Our party members at all our party structures ought to know that even in Western World like the United States of America, not all party members or members of a ruling party are awarded with government positions. Other people have to continue mobilising and strengthening the party in government,” stressed Chifita.
