Herve Renard agrees pay cut to be new Super Eagles coach

Former Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia coach Herve Renard has agreed to take a pay cut to be the new coach of the Super Eagles.

Sportsville9ja reported that a confirmed NFF source as saying the Frenchman has agreed to take a pay cut to lead the Super Eagles.

Renard representatives had demanded a monthly salary of $180,000 when grilled by the NFF technical committee.

He was one of the coaches initially shortlisted for the top post, but his hefty salary was always going to be major obstacle as it is well beyond the budget of the NFF.

Renard’s contract with the French women’s team ended after they were knocked out of the Paris 2024 Olympics by Brazil at the weekend.

He has often said he hopes to lead a team to the 2026 World Cup after he guided Saudi Arabia at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He has won the AFCON with both Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia.

He has also worked in Ghana and Morocco.
