HH REVERSES DIPLOMATIC RECALL OF LITUNGA’S COUSIN

The government has reversed the diplomatic recall of the Litunga’s cousin, prince Imasiku Mutangelwa as Zambia’s deputy Ambassador to Russia.

Sources in the UPND administration have told Daily Revelation that prince Mutangelwa was recalled a few months before the August 12, 2021 general elections by former president Edgar Lungu, on what sources say suspicions that he was a UPND sympathiser.

“The government of Lungu had recalled him and he had literally packed his goods and was just waiting for his transportation. But the HH government has reversed the recall and he is therefore remaining in his position as deputy Ambassador to Russia. He is remaining there,” sources said.

The sources said Mutangelwa was first appointed into the diplomatic service as Ambassador to Angola by late president Michael Sata, and he even received letters of credence, but without any reason given another person was appointed to go to that country instead of him.

“Therefore when Edgar Lungu came he sent prince Mutangelwa to Russia as deputy ambassador without giving reason on why he had not taken up the posting in Angola. However, a few months before the elections, prince Mutangelwa was recalled over alleged sympathies with the then opposition UPND,” said the sources.
