Hichilema has publicly told Zambians he has failed – Zumani

Former president Edgar Lungu’s political adviser Chris Zumani Zimba says President Hakainde Hichilema does not have the leadership skills that Joseph from the Bible had, to offer a solution to the drought situation facing the country.

In an interview with Daily Revelation over the weekend, Zumani charged that President Hichilema publicly told the nation that he would not be able to offer any solutions to the current economic crisis the country was in.

“We need to commend him for conceding defeat and for being open that he has failed the Zambian people with regards to agriculture and food security. That’s a confirmation of defeat. The fact that the President has become superstitious,” Zumani said. “The man who claimed to be the best statesman, economist and somebody who has come to fix the problems Zambians are facing. The only consolation we have is that he has confessed that he has failed and that the Zambian people should start looking to God for prayer and not the President.”

He urged the UPND to find a solution to the prolonged load shedding hours before an economic paralysis was created in the country.

“Government should just find an alternative source of energy for the Zambian people. Otherwise the increased load shedding is going to create a state of economic paralysis. As you know, the energy sector is the sector that drives the economy. So, the UPND have no option than to offer a solution to this situation because this economy strives on electricity,” he added.

Zimba further urged the UPND to go back to the energy sector policy of the PF to learn how to resolve the prolonged load shedding hours.

“The government has now learned and appreciate that president Lungu and the PF government they were standing tall in terms of increasing alternative source of energy by investing more in the solar energy. When they came in, they relaxed on that part. They started focusing more on hydro energy,” said Zumani. “Today, we have this crisis. So, they need to go back to the PF policy by investing more in the solar energy even in other sources of energy. Let them go back to the energy sector policy of the PF. I think it was one of the best since independence.”

He insisted that Zambian people should start praying for a new leader because President Hichilema had categorically indicated that he has failed.
