I JOINED UPND BECAUSE PF DID NOT WANT ME, SAYS SAMPA

I joined UPND because PF did not want me, says immediate past Kasama member of parliament (PF) Kelvin Sampa.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Sampa said that he opted to resign from the Patriot Front to join the UPND because the former ruling party’s leadership decided to do away with him, saying “as such, I had to make a personal decision.”

“You know in life every person has a right to make a personal decision. So when they decided that they did not want me, even me I had to make a personal decision to join the current ruling party,” Sampa, who is also immediate past Patriot Front national youth chairman, said.

Sampa said he will not be talking about the former ruling party because he is not part of them, stating the only thing he can do is to wish the PF leadership and general membership the best of luck ahead of the former ruling party’s forthcoming extraordinary general conference, as they focus on the 2026 general elections.

Asked on the Patriot Front’s prospect of bouncing back to power after going through the rebranding process, Sampa said that:

“Hahahaha. Aah! I think I should not even be talking about them because I am not part of them. The only thing I can do is to wish them their best of luck,” said Sampa.

He said he currently has no intentions of vying for any parliamentary seat on the UPND ticket, stressing that at the moment he wants to concentrate on his personal life and business.

“No, no! At the moment I have no intentions of contesting any parliamentary seat. I have decided to take a back seat and concentrate on my personal life and personal business,” said Sampa. “Politically, I am taking a five year reflection. Otherwise, I have decided to take a back seat.”
