President Hakainde Hichilema says he will “whip” Food Reserve Agency (FRA) if they fail to follow his instruction to announce the maize floor price.
Speaking during a community engagement in Lusangazi on Friday afternoon, President Hichilema said as a President he had his own way of whipping people who don’t follow instructions.
“Even though we have done the job, but we still have another job to do, fertiliser have stopped you from sharing in medas, sharing on the plate. We shall add the number of bags of fertilizer that you receive, so that each one of you will be receiving a sufficient number of bags of fertilizer. You must not be sharing in little tins,” President Hichilema said. “We want you to be cultivating. By the way you did well in the previous season. I have told the FRA (Food Reserve Agency) to give us the (floor) price of maize. We want them to start buying quickly and start paying farmers quickly. If they won’t do their job, I will whip them. Do you know that the President whips? He has his own way of whipping people. I have told them already.”
President Hichilema urged the people of Lusangazi to emulate citizens from other parts of the country that had agreed to vote for the UPND.
“Lusaka has agreed, North Western has agreed. Western has agreed, Central has agreed. Copperbelt has agreed. And yesterday l was in Chama, people from Chama there, which is very far, and them they have agreed. The previous day l was in Chasefu, Lumezi, they had all agreed. So after coming from Chama, we went to Chasefu, they agreed. Today, the people from Nyimba agreed,” President Hichilema said. “We are just coming from Petauke. You were saying that Petauke will be difficult for us. But there is nothing like that, all the people have seen the job that l have done. If those from Petauke have agreed, what about you in Lusangazi, what are you saying? Are you going to vote for the UPND on August 13?”
