Lupososhi member of parliament (PF) Emmanuel Mpankata says he is disappointed that the economic genius President Hakainde Hichilema boasted about is anchored on getting an aid package through the IMF.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Mpankata said President Hichilema boasted that he was an economic force who had solutions to the country’s problems, but nine months into his government, the cost of living has gotten higher and unbearable for the majority Zambians, and that the price of fuel was up by K7 from nine months ago, despite the recent monthly reduction.
“He said he’s an economic force, an economic genius…he said he had solutions, tell him to bring those solutions to national issues. He was asked recently by the lady from Millennium Radio about what local solutions he had now to address the now problems facing the country, he failed to answer,” he said, saying he was disappointed with the President’s answers.
Mpankata said the country needed home grown solutions, saying he was disappointed that despite all that President Hichilema said during his time in the opposition, his first act was to go the IMF route, which he said had failed the other countries before.
He said one could not expect the neighbor to impregnate their wive if they had failed to do so themselves.
Mpankata said he hoped the setting up of the AFRICOM offices in the US Embassy was not part of the conditionalities given by the foreign powers.
He said Zambians should be on the edge with the recently announced fuel reduction, as most of these minimal price reductions have been followed by huge increments since the UPND assumed office nine months ago.
