Losing PF Kapiri-Mposhi mayoral candidate Brian Nkolola says it’s not by mistake that President Hakainde Hichilema is President, as God doesn’t just make things happen by mistake.
In a statement to Daily Revelation, Nkolola, who lost narrowly to the UPND’s Brilliant Munyeke for the Kapiri-Mposhi Council chairmanship (mayor) in the 2021 general elections, obtaining 25,623 votes against his opponent’s 29,531, argued that those frustrating the UPND government’s development agenda, members of opposition political parties would be frustrating the Zambian general populace.
“Don’t just criticise for the sake of criticising even when things are good. When the ruling party goes wrong, the opposition has a duty to provide solutions; instead of just criticising. The current President, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, has a five year mandate. And the moment we decide to frustrate his works and the UPND government’s development agenda, this will result in frustrations among the Zambian citizenry because we are One Zambia, One Nation, Nkolola stated. “Before we had the Patriot Front in government. Today we have the new dawn government. God doesn’t just make things happen by mistake. We might not know, maybe the new dawn are now the grace carriers. So we need to support them so that deliver on their campaign promises of uplifting the living standards of our people.”
Nkolola said Zambia needs political healing, advising his fellow members of opposition political parties that lost in the August 12, 2021 general elections to heal and start working towards uplifting the living standards of people.
“There’s time for everything. There is time to hurt and time to heal. Those that have not healed politically from last year’s general elections, let them heal now. The most important thing is that we must heal politically and work towards uplifting the living standards of our people,” Nkolola stated, who is also immediate past Patriot Front Kapiri Mposhi district youth chairman.
Nkolola implored fellow members of opposition political parties to offer constructive criticism to the UPND government.
And UPND Kapiri Mposhi constituency chairman Davy Ngwelela acknowledged that the country needs healing, considering the fact that the nation is coming from an election where people were divided politically and on tribal lines.
“We are one despite belonging to different political parties. The President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, has a strong Christian background. Every morning he posts a scripture on his Facebook page, urging us to love one another. He wants this country to be united like never before,” explained Ngwelela in an interview. “This country needs healing. This country. This country is coming from a background where people were divided politically. This country is coming from a background where people were divided on tribal lines.”
He also urged the Church to take a leading role in reconciling leaders of political parties.
“Now that the President is fixing the economy, we hope and believe that the Church is going to stand up to help political parties to reconcile. The Church should ensure that there’s genuine reconciliation among political party players,” added Ngwelela.
