PF presidential aspirant Brian Mundubile has responded to assertions that he has differed with former president Edgar Lungu over alleged Chinese funding, saying it means that he is doing something good for people to go to the extent of raising such assertions.
PF insiders have told Daily Revelation that the former president has been upset with Mundubile after he allegedly urged Chinese financiers to fund his presidential campaign as opposed to the former president as he is the one who is campaigning for the 2026 presidency and not Lungu.
“The issue here is that Lungu has been upset with Mundubile for suggesting that and has since been ignoring advances from Mundubile for an appointment, after he urged the Chinese ‘that you should not be taking the money to that one but you should be giving me because I am the one who will be president’,” one of the senior PF insiders told Daily Revelation.
But contacted for comment, Mundubile said he could not differ with ‘his father’ saying Lungu was a man he held in high esteem as he made him minister when he did not even know him.
He said he did not think he could get to any position where he would differ with president Lungu, and that he has not gotten any money from anywhere for his political campaigns.
Mundubile said he enjoyed a good relationship with the former president and was from talking to him on the phone as recently as a week ago, and that president Lungu could have told him already if he had a problem with him.
He described the story about the Chinese as a total fabrication, saying he has never gotten any money from the Chinese and neither has he approached them for funding.
Mundubile said he could only speculate where such assertions were coming from, saying that if it was from his opponents in the party then he would take it that he was doing a good job, “if people will go to that extent to make up stories.”
