Former PF secretary general Mumbi Phiri says MMD leader pastor Nevers Mumba is eyeing the vacancy in the ministerial position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Phiri said pastor Mumba has ramped up attacks on the PF and defence of President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND in order to be considered for a ministerial position.
She wondered where pastor Mumba was when President Hichilema was churning out promises with his own mouth that mealie meal will be reduced to K50, fuel to less than K13 per liter after removing middle men, and that the Kwacha will appreciate rapidly against the United States Dollar, among the many promises he made before he was elected into office.
Phiri said it was shocking that the same pastor Mumba who sought an alliance with PF on claims that he could not go into one with then opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema because they did not share the same principles, was today seeking one with UPND
“Nomba ine nimpapa ukwisa umfwa ati nabaluka ati they share the same principles (But I am surprised to hear that he has done a u-turn and now claiming that they share the same principles with President Hichilema). That’s what has really shocked me. So I don’t know what he means,” Phiri said. “And when he says these problems were created by PF. Where was my uncle when ba Hakainde bale eba abena (was telling) Zambia to say when I come I have got a lot of rich friends they will come and invest in this economy? Where was ba yama (my uncle)? Tabaleumfwa (Wasn’t he listening)? And the goodness with these new politics you can’t fool people because everything is documented.”
She said with his own mouth, President Hichilema claimed that if he were elected at 10 hours, by 14 hours the Kwacha would appreciate supersonically.
“It was not the other people speaking for Hakainde to say that he will reduce the price of mealie meal to K50. He said that with his own mouth. He said fuel in Zambia was expensive because of the middle men the PF had put there, but that he would remove them. With his own mouth he said that,” said Phiri. “Where was my uncle pastor Mumba when that was being said? So I am shocked that people can turn around and every day continue talking about PF. Ala ngawafilwa kufilwa (If you have failed, you have just failed). Elo ba yama, if he wants a job, from my looks he is eyeing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where it is empty. Let them give it to him. I just don’t know whom they are going to drop, whether it’s (Science and Technology minister) Felix Mutati to be replaced, it is up to the appointing authority.”
