Bowman Lusambo says his legal team is in court to challenge the decision by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to stop him from filing in his nomination.
“We know that Hakainde Hichilema is fearing Bowman. We are inviting Hakainde Hichilema to come and stand with Bowman in Kabushi constituency and see who is a man between me and him,” Lusambo said to Daily Revelation Media.
He said he was confident that the courts were professional, arguing that the Electoral Commission of Zambia does not have the mandate to interpret the law on who should and should not file in.
“No Bowman, no Malanji, no elections on the Copperbelt. This is a democratic country, so no Bowman, no Malanji, no by-elections,” Lusambo said, but asked about the how or what he was saying, he argued that that was what the people have said.
He, however, said that he was not advocating violence, and commended the police for doing a good job and that they were telling him that “Bowman, God is there…they told me God is there. Whatever things which is happening is useless we cannot even tolerate this thing. The UPND wanted to misbehave in Lubuto, the police told them off that if you want to misbehave here we are going to arrest you and put you in cells. The police were above board. The police they don’t want this nonsense which they are seeing in this country, they are fed up. They are tired.”
